The first Second Chance Lobby Day at North Carolina Legislature - April 26, 2011
We, the staff at CSI and NC Second Chance Alliance Partners, applaud all those who have taken up the cry,
"I'm for Second Chances!"
The FIRST Second Chance Lobby Day was held on April 26, 2011 at the North Carolina General Assembly, Raleigh, North Carolina. Over 200 formerly incarerated persons, and organizations that work with this population, attended this ground-breaking event.
The current system of incarceration and re-incarceration is not working. It's eroding the safety of our communities, draining our state's resources, and failing those who have paid their debts to society.
That's why we're calling on our state leaders to take a deep look at the barriers facing people with criminal records. We can no longer afford to pour our resources and dollars into a revolving door criminal justice system.
