The National Reentry Resource Center recently released a new webpage outlining the Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) model and the resources needed to implement it. The site was developed with funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) .
This online resource provides volunteers, agencies, and other practitioners working to integrate CoSA models in their communities with the strategies, tools, and resources needed to implement the relevant practices supported by research. These practices have been proven to improve outcomes for people convicted of a sexual offense who are returning home from incarceration.
The resources draw from the expertise of researchers and promising practices identified by practitioners across the country. The webpage features a companion document that can be used to supplement volunteer trainings provided by agencies implementing the CoSA model and an Orientation Toolkit geared toward CoSA volunteers, which includes a video series.
