The National Center for Youth Opportunity and Justice is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in becoming a certified Mental Health Training for Juvenile Justice trainer.
Developed specifically for juvenile probation, detention, and corrections professionals, the MHT-JJ provides critical information and practical strategies for interacting with youth who are experiencing mental, substance use, and traumatic stress conditions. The MHT-JJ provides research-based instruction that increases juvenile justice practitioner knowledge and develops and enhances skills to support effective and safe interactions with youth.
The curriculum covers the following topics:
- Adolescent development
- Mental and substance use disorders
- Childhood trauma
- Evidence-based treatment and supports
- Family engagement
- Effective skills for working with youth – “What you can do”
- Self-care
Up to 40 participants will be selected to attend the Boston, Massachusetts MHT-JJ Train-the-Trainer, scheduled for June 26-28. Learn more and apply.
