The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is seeking applications for FY 2017 Smart on Juvenile Justice: Systemwide Reform and Reinvestment Initiative, which includes two categories: planning grants for states’ systemwide juvenile justice reform strategies, and funding for an organization or institution of higher education to provide technical assistance to selected states. States that receive planning grants will develop strategies to (1) improve public safety and outcomes for youth, their families, and the communities in which they live; (2) reduce the use of out-of-home placement and increase the use of effective community-based alternatives, including early intervention, diversion, and evidence-based programs; (3) ensure sustainability of reform efforts; and (4) reinvest cost savings/cost aversion realized through reform efforts.
Applications for both categories are due June 29. Learn more and apply.
